Jim has extensive experience on all levels of coaching including high school, college, and on the professional level in the CBA and the NBA. He headed the University of San Francisco Basketball Program from 1984-1995 after spending 11 years at the University of San Diego, where he led the Toreros to a West Coast Conference Championship and an NCAA appearance. He was honored as the WCC Coach of the Year as well as the District 14 Coach of the Year. In the summer of 1988 he was a consultant for the Japanese National Team in preparation for the Asian games. Jim was inducted into the University of San Francisco Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982 and the University of San Diego Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. Jim also coached both in the CBA (Sioux Falls Skyforce 1999-2000) and in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets (Assistant Coach 1996-1998) and the Washington Wizards (Assistant and Interim Head Coach 1998-200). He and his wife, Nada have two children, Mike and Michele and five grandchildren, Tenley, Hunter, Giovanni, Tyler and Rocco.
